Barenaked Ladies, Nelly Furtado & Olivia Newton-John All Feature in 'Score: A Hockey Musical'

Now this is something that Kevin Smith would love, but he’ll probably have to fly Air Canada to see it.

Amiable Canuck band the Barenaked Ladies have written a song for the new Great White North film, “Score: A Hockey Musical,” written by Michael McGowan (“Saint Ralph,” and “One Week” — the Joshua Jackson film that used quotes from YouTube for its poster the film producers were so hard up to get good press).

The film actually has some names in it too including Olivia Newton-John as the star, Nelly Furtado, plus lesser known Canadian musicians like Marc Jordan, Hawksley Workman, Dave Bidini (of cult-rockers The Rheostatics), and newcomers Noah Reid and Allie MacDonald.

This smells like one of those strictly Canadian productions that doesn’t go South of the border or travel further than Canada itself as it already has an October 22 release date in Canada by Mongrel Media (who?). The film is currently shooting in Toronto until March 8. Hockey fans, and Kevin Smith take note.
