'Bates Motel' Checks In For A Second Season On A&E

nullTrend alert!? Are we headed for full blown prequel-itis on TV? With NBC experiencing a nearly-there hit with the actually pretty decent “Hannibal” (they’re going to rerun the pilot this Wednesday night, before airing the second episode on Thursday), A&E has already gone ahead and declared “Bates Motel” a winner.

The network has reupped the show starring Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga for a second season. The show, which is a prequel to “Psycho” (but with a contemporary setting, wtf), follows Norma Bates and her son, as she buys a hotel White Pine Bay, but the town is full of secrets. Frankly, we haven’t been watching the show, but 4.5 million viewers tuned in for the first episode, so clearly this is resonating. Whether or not this show is worth the time, we’ll leave you to tell us, but with a second season now on the way, anyone already invested will at least see that time rewarded.

Production on season two will get underway this later this, with new episodes to spook you in 2014. [STYD]
