One of the best films of the year is “Leave No Trace,” full stop. With incredible performances from its two leads, the film about a young girl and her father, choosing to live off the grid, is touching, beautiful, and heartbreaking. Now, imagine if that film featured the young girl taking matters into her own hands and seeking vengeance after tragedy strikes? That’s basically the premise for Ben Affleck’s new film, “I Am Still Alive.”
According to THR, Affleck has signed on to star in and produce the upcoming film, which is written by Lori Evans Taylor. The premise is basically what is mentioned above, and is based on the book by Kate Alice Marshall. A 16-year-old girl is forced to live with her father, an off-the-grid sort of fellow, in the Canadian wilderness. However, when a group of men murders her father, the girl and her dog must fend for themselves and survive. Things get even more complicated when the murderous men come back and the young girl decides to have some revenge.
Seemingly done with his Batman side hustle, Affleck has taken some interesting roles over the past year. He’ll next be seen in the highly-anticipated Netflix film “Triple Frontier.” After that, he’ll appear in films like “The Last Thing He Wanted” and “Torrance.” And apparently, somewhere down the line, he’ll suit up again, not as Batman (that ship has sailed), but as the titular character in a sequel to the action film “The Accountant.”

Interestingly enough, Taylor has some experience with off-grid-ish projects, such as the Animal Planet series “Untamed and Uncut.” She was also a segment producer on the series “1000 Ways to Die.” However, she has transitioned into screenwriting and has penned the script for the upcoming thriller “Bed Rest.”
There’s no release date named for this project, and with Affleck’s ever-growing production schedule, it appears this one could still be a ways off. Even still, we’ll keep an eye out for any news about “I Am Still Alive.”
