Big Pun Celebrated In Hip-Hop Documentary, 'The Legacy'

Remember Big Pun, the obese to morbidly obese Bronx Latino rapper that died of a heart attack at the age of 28? According to MTV’s Mixtape Monday, they’re making a documentary about the late Latin rapper and his impact on hip-hop. Pun was one of the first major Latin rappers breaking through the underground and earning a grammy nod before his death in 2000. Pun’s story is being told in a feature-length documentary titled, “Big Pun: The Legacy” which features testimonials by Wu-Tang’s Raekwon, Mobb Deep’s Prodigy, DMX, Redman, Snoop Dogg, Swizz Beatz, Xzibit and many others.

Pun’s wife Liza Rios is with it. “I was extremely pleased. It was well-thought-out. It definitely represented Big Pun in full form. Over the years, Pun had become a distant memory in the industry. It is important for the younger hip-hop generation to know Pun and what he contributed to our hip-hop nation. The streets always keep Pun alive, and by creating this documentary, we are able to give back to Pun’s loyal fans.”
