This year marks the end of one of premium cable’s most successful series about uber-wealthy white people and their drama. No, we’re not talking about “Succession,” but that also qualifies. We’re talking about Showtime’s hit series, “Billions.”
As seen in the trailer for the seventh and final season of “Billions,” it looks like its all hands on deck for what is bound to be an explosive end to the acclaimed drama. After a season that saw original star Damian Lewis step away, paving the way for Corey Stoll to take over as a co-lead, Lewis is back to cause even more mayhem. Now, for the final season, we have Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll, and Damian Lewis all butting heads. It should be a lot of fun.
Joining Lewis, Stoll, and Giamatti in the cast are Maggie Siff, Asian Kate Dillion, and David Costabile. The series is co-showrun and co-created by Brian Koppelman and David Levien.
Interestingly, as this does signal the end of “Billions,” we already know Paramount/Showtime is looking at possibly expanding this franchise with potential spinoffs. And even though the titles seem a bit silly, it sounds like the spinoffs could be called “Millions” and “Trillions.” So, even if you’re sad about the demise of “Billions,” there’s more where that came from down the line.
“Billions” is set to debut its final season on August 11. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
In season 7, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.
