Before “Black Panther” was released, a lot of industry folks weren’t expecting the Marvel Studios film to become one of their landmark films. But after being introduced in “Captain America: Civil War,” Chadwick Boseman’s character was soon treated to a solo adventure helmed by Ryan Coogler. Surprise, surprise: “Black Panther” was a monster hit, earning a massive $1.3 billion at the global box office. Just as important, the success would help to expose the ugly Hollywood myth that overseas audiences wouldn’t support blockbusters with Black actors.

And while audiences were shocked at Boseman’s tragic death in 2020, Marvel has done its best to pass the torch while respecting the actor’s legacy. The first teaser for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” answers the question of who will be taking over for T’Challa, introducing a familiar face as the new Black Panther.
Thanks to the big Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con, we now have the film’s first teaser trailer.
Returning cast members consist of Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Florence Kasumba, and Martin Freeman. Two newcomers to the franchise are British actress Michaela Cole and “Narcos: Mexico” breakout Tenoch Huerta is set as one of the film’s antagonists Namor The Submariner.
The MCU sequel will introduce audiences to another new superhero as it’s confirmed to have an appearance from Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams ahead of the character’s solo Disney+ series, “Ironheart,” and she can be seen in this new trailer.
Rumors have swirled for years about the inclusion of Prince Namor, aka, The Sub-Mariner (a major crossover anti-hero and royalty from the Kingdom of Atlantis) as a potential antagonist that is going to be linked to ancient Mexican/Central American culture. And this new trailer certainly confirms this to be the case, with Wakanda seemingly in direct conflict with the Atlanteans. In the comics, Namor is considered Marvel’s “first mutant” and happens to be one of the first characters ever created by the comics publisher, alongside his cousin Namora (member of Agents of Atlas).
“Wakanda Forever” will hit theaters on November 11, and apparently, Phase 4 ends with this film, information that Kevin Feige revealed at Comic-Con today. Watch the awesome new trailer below.
