Got a Tip?

‘Wonder Woman’ Actor Cast By Danny Boyle For Villain Role In ‘Bond 25’ Unsure If He’ll Even Be In The Movie

Recently, actor Saïd Taghmaoui landed the role of a lifetime. However, due to circumstances outside of his control, that role might not ever come to fruition. You see, up until a few weeks ago, Taghmaoui was scheduled to be the bad guy in ‘Bond 25.’ Then the Danny Boyle departure suddenly hit, and the actor is left unsure of his status.

In a new interview with The National, the actor talks about what’s next on his plate, after his successful co-starring role in 2017’s box office smash, “Wonder Woman.” “I’m supposed to do the next James Bond, playing the lead bad guy,” said Taghmaoui.

As he explains, “supposed to” is the operative term in that sentence. “I was cast by Danny Boyle, and just now he left the project, so of course there’s some uncertainty,” said the actor.

The problem isn’t that Taghmaoui is a bad actor, at all. During the whole Danny Boyle/’Bond 25’ debacle, we reported that one of the reasons that the director left the mega-franchise film was with alleged disagreements over casting with star Daniel Craig. Back then, it was reported that Boyle had specific things in mind as far as the villain in the film, and who might play the Bond girl. However, Craig has final say, due to his contract, and the two parties could never come together.

So sadly, it sounds like Taghmaoui might be a casualty of a dispute way above his head. And with that, the role of a lifetime might slip through his fingers and into the history books as a fun little factoid. Of course, not all hope is lost…yet.

Taghmaoui explains, “We don’t know who the director will be, and the producers don’t know if they’re going to go Russian or Middle East with the baddie right now. I literally just received a message saying: ‘If they go Middle East, it’s you. If they go Russian, it’s someone else.’ It’s the story of my life. Always on that line between something that could change my life and something that disappears.”

With recent news of ‘Bond’ producers shortening their wishlist to only a few directors, the decision might be coming soon. And then, the actor will get the final word on what could be his breakout role.
