Brad Bird’s ‘The Iron Giant’ Returns To Theaters In September With New Footage

nullBefore he was making big screen spectacles with "Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol," and less impressively perhaps with "Tomorrowland," Brad Bird was an acclaimed animated filmmaker and it all started with "The Iron Giant." The director’s debut feature length film is treasured by many as a contemporary classic of the genre, and showed the spark of creativity and heart that Bird would further develop in his films with Pixar. And now it’s coming back to the big screen with a little something extra.

On September 30th at 7 PM local time, "The Iron Giant: Signature Edition" will land in cinemas for a special event screening, bringing you the movie you love, freshly remastered, along with what’s being described as "two all-new scenes." Whether that means deleted sequences or something else, we’ll just have to wait and see. Collider suspects that "The Giant’s Dream" deleted scene may be on that will be included, since it’s a sequence Bird likes.

Either way, this is a nice treat, particularly for those who grew up on the movie, but who maybe didn’t get a chance to see it on the big screen (and if you miss it the first event screening, it will show again on October 4th at noon). Check out the original trailer below.
