Netflix is clearly unafraid to try new things. And if you’re looking for a Netflix series that doesn’t follow the typical series rules and pushes the boundaries a little more than your average “Outer Banks” or “Sex/Life,” then perhaps “Brand New Cherry Flavor” is what you’re looking for? I mean, where else are you going to get a series that combines zombies, supernatural kittens, and a tattoo artist with a fondness for curses?
As seen in the teaser for “Brand New Cherry Flavor,” the series follows a young woman with the dream of making it big as a filmmaker in LA. And since she’s never watched a horror movie or read a novel in her life, she accepts an offer from a mysterious stranger that carries a kitten around. The offer allows the young woman to get revenge on whoever she wants. Of course, this clearly leads her down a dark, crazy path.
The series stars Rosa Salazar, Catherine Keener, Eric Lange, Jeff Ward, and Manny Jacinto. “Brand New Cherry Flavor” comes from writers, producers, and showrunners, Nick Antosca and Lenore Zion. Both previously worked together on the horror series, “Channel Zero.”
“Brand New Cherry Flavor” debuts on Netflix on August 13. Friday, the 13th, of course. You can watch the teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis:

This particular nightmare has zombies, hitmen, supernatural kittens, and a mysterious tattoo artist who likes to put curses on people. And Lisa’s going to have to figure out some secrets from her own past in order to get out alive.
