A little under two weeks ago, the Cannes Film Festival unveiled its lineup for the upcoming event. However, as we know with film festivals, the initial lineup is far from complete and more films can be added at any time. Well, that’s exactly what Cannes has done, as the organization has announced quite a few new additions to the upcoming festival.

Leading the way are two new additions to the Cannes competition. The first film to be added is “Black Flies,” which is by director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire and stars Sean Penn. That film is joined by “Le Retour,” by acclaimed filmmaker Catherine Corsini. For those keeping track, the addition of Corsini now makes for a record seven female filmmakers in the official competition.
Another interesting new film being added to the lineup comes in the Midnight section, where we see Robert Rodriguez’s highly anticipated thriller, “Hypnotic,” which stars Ben Affleck.
