With four films at the Cannes Film Festival by the age of twenty-seven — including his latest, “It’s Only The End Of The World” — I don’t know the full statistics, but Xavier Dolan must hold some kind of record. And his growing stature means he’s able to grab a cast like this for his upcoming drama.
Starring Marion Cotillard, Léa Seydoux, Vincent Cassel, Nathalie Baye, and Gaspard Ulliel, the film follows a writer who returns home after a 12-year absence to announce his impending death. The movie is inspired by the play by Jean-Luc Lagarce, and the last time Dolan took source material from the stage, he delivered the nifty, highly underrated thriller “Tom At The Farm.” So we’re eager to see what he has up his sleeve this time around.
“It’s Only The End Of The World” opens in Quebec on September 21st, but there’s no U.S. distributor yet. Check out one clip above, and another below.
