'Captain America 4': Giancarlo Esposito Says "No One Has Guessed Correctly" About Who His Character Is

It’s only been several days since the release of the “Captain America: Brave New World” teaser, but fans are already excited by what was shown. The film actually looks like it’s closer in tone to ‘The Winter Soldier’ and not some CGI mess like some of the recent Marvel films. And one of the most exciting aspects of the film is that there is still so much that’s unknown, including the identity of the villain played by Giancarlo Esposito

At a recent convention appearance (via Comicbook.com), Giancarlo Esposito talked about what fans can expect from his mysterious new MCU character. Not only that, he promised that all the guesses he’s seen about who it might be are wrong.

“The character I’m playing is a badass,” Esposito said. “That always excites me. For me to develop that character in line with the character’s inception is a fascinating art for me. I had an incredible time shooting it.”

He continued, “I’m not telling you who I’m playing…people are trying to guess and no one has guessed correctly yet.”

“Yet” is the important word there. If we know anything about Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, they’ll figure it out at some point. The key is whether or not Marvel can keep it a secret by the time ‘Brave New World’ hits theaters. Marvel Studios has been known to have information leak, especially when it comes to film tie-in merchandise. (Remember the recent McDonald’s issue where ‘Captain America 4’ toys were given out nearly a year before it arrives in theaters?)

The good news for Marvel is that a lot of people are more excited by the Red Hulk appearance in the teaser, confirming the long rumor that the character would show up in the film. If you want to know who the Red Hulk actually is, you can do a simple Google search and find out. But it’s probably a pretty big spoiler.

“Captain America: Brave New World” arrives in theaters on February 14, 2025.
