Before we dive into Blanchett’s next career move, we can’t help but mention her impressive resume. This video essay from Fandor does a rapid-fire encapsulation of what the actress has accomplished in her career. Blanchett’s a chameleon that disappears into practically any role.
Everything she does has subtleties and nuances to change her characterizations time and again. Blanchett plays over 30 different characters in the film “Manifesto,” which shows her range in full force. Each character has their own voice and quirks. It’s the best of Blanchett in a film where she is the main focus. And although her role at Cannes has come to an end, you’ll see her onscreen soon.
She stars with a cast of fierce women in “Ocean’s 8” this summer and provides the voice of Kaa in Andy Serkis‘s “Mowgli,” due out in October. The same month, Blanchett stars in Richard Linklater‘s adaptation of “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” as the titular character. Blanchett will also take another turn at a biopic. Aaron Sorkin‘s “Lucy and Desi,” has been in development for a few years now. Blanchett will play the legendary comedic performer Lucille Ball.
Given her range, it’s no wonder everyone adores her. What are some of your favorite Cate Blanchett performances? Let us know in the comments.
