‘Chapelwaite’ Red Band Trailer: Stephen King Prequel Confronts A Sordid Secret History

Set in the 1850s, “Chapelwaite” is based on King’s short story ‘Jerusalem’s Lot’ – a sort-of prequel to “Salem’s Lot,” King’s second published novel – following Captain Charles Boone (Adrien Brody), who relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home, the infamous Chapelwaite manor, in the small, seemingly sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine after his wife dies at sea.

Emily Hampshire (“Schitt’s Creek”) plays Rebecca Morgan, an ambitious young woman who has returned to Preacher’s Corners from college with an advance to write a story for a new and prestigious magazine.  When Boone arrives in town with his children, her writer’s block finally lifts, and despite (probably wise) protests from her mother, Rebecca applies to be the governess of the Boone family to write about them. Of course, there’s plenty of evil lurking, and this new trailer illustrates the extent of such, As she sets out to write the next great gothic novel, Rebecca also begins to unravel a mystery that has plagued her own family for a long time.
