As mentioned, the last time we saw Chris Evans playing Captain America in a Marvel film was “Avengers: Endgame” back in 2019. Of course, fans of the new “Deadpool and Wolverine” will quickly remind you that Evans did already return for that film, but he was Johnny Storm, aka Human Torch. You have to assume the ‘Doomsday’ return will be as someone connected to the Captain America mythos.
Since his last appearance as Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, back in 2019, Evans has remained pretty busy with his film roles. He’s appeared in films such as “Knives Out,” “The Gray Man,” “Ghosted,” “Pain Hustlers,” and “Red One.” The latter of which is a Christmas film that hit theaters last month.
Production is expected to begin on “Avengers: Doomsday” during 2025. The film is set to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026.
