Chris Rock is really into remaking movies these days, and international ones too. 2007’s “I Think I Love My Wife” was a remake of Éric Rohmer’s 1972 film, “Love in the Afternoon” (a great little film) and now the comedian is planning on remaking the British film, “Death At A Funeral,” which was actually directed by American, Frank Oz.
Rock is onboard to produce, star, and co-write what they’re calling an “urban adaptation” of the movie.
We never did see ‘Funeral’ when it first came out, but it sounded amusing enough. Rock is balls funny in his stand-up (which you’ve never really witnessed til you’ve seen it live, trust us), but his track record in films is pretty spotty. Who knows, maybe we’ll give it a chance. His aforementioned French-remake wasn’t terrible.
We were thinking of making this story just a brief line in a ShortCuts-like aggregate piece, but the photoshop opportunity was just too rich [ed. this is better, yes].
