Previously Attached Neil LaBute Penned Script
Since it was first announced back in January, “Seconds of Pleasure” has seen a world of changes and additions as it gears up to go in front of cameras. Firstly, the previously attached Neil LaBute is now out of the director’s chair with Mike Figgis (“Leaving Las Vegas“) replacing him, though it will still utilize his script which looks to be based on his book of short stories with the same name.
Deadline reports that “Mad Men” star Christina Hendricks, Julia Stiles and Matt Dillon have all boarded the project joining Brendan Fraser and Kristin Scott Thomas. Set on an airplane, the film will use a series of vignettes to connect the stories of the passengers on the flight. Details on the plot are scant, but Hendricks will play the wife of Fraser who finds him in a “compromising position.”
It has been a long while since anything LaBute related on film has been worthy of the name that brought us “In the Company of Men,” “Your Friends & Neighbors” and even “The Shape of Things.” But the cast assembled here is intriguing enough, and Figgis is an inventive — if not always successful — filmmaker, so we have guarded optimism on this. Shooting will begin this summer in the U.K.
