Odds are, if you celebrate Christmas, you’re well aware of the lore surrounding the holiday, specifically the story of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. But just how well do you know about Belsnickel? Well, the upcoming Netflix holiday film, “The Christmas Chronicles: Part 2” pits the most badass Santa around (Kurt Russell) against his anti-holiday foe, Belsnickel, with the fate of Christmas hanging in the balance.

As seen in the trailer, Belsnickel is far from the character Dwight Schrute portrayed in “The Office.” Instead, the villain is played by Julian Dennison. And his mission is to steal the Christmas Star and end the holiday for good. Thankfully, for children all over the world, this version of Santa is Kurt Russell, who has a streamlined, super-fast sleigh and a beautiful blonde wife (Goldie Hawn) by his side. And as we saw in the first ‘Christmas Chronicle,’ this isn’t the same type of Santa that you might be used to. Russell’s Santa is more than capable of saving the world, if needed.
As mentioned, the film stars Russell and Hawn. However, joining them in the cast are Darby Camp, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Jahzir Bruno, Julian Dennison, Tyrese Gibson, Darlene Love, and Judah Lewis. ‘Christmas Chronicles 2’ is directed by Chris Columbus, who co-wrote the film alongside Matt Lieberman.

Here’s the synopsis:
It’s been two years since siblings Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis) saved Christmas, and a lot has changed. Kate, now a cynical teenager, is reluctantly spending Christmas in Cancun with her mom’s new boyfriend (Tyrese Gibson) and his son Jack (Jahzir Bruno). Unwilling to accept this new version of her family, Kate decides to run away. But when a mysterious, magical troublemaker named Belsnickel threatens to destroy the North Pole and end Christmas for good, Kate and Jack are unexpectedly pulled into a new adventure with Santa Claus (Kurt Russell).
