We have to admit, we had to look up to see if the NBC comedy "Chuck" was still on (for the record, it is). Anyway, it looks like one of the stars, Yvonne Strahovski, is making the big screen leap having taken a mostly thankless role in the mostly thankless "The Killer Elite," and now signing on to stitch together Aaron Eckhart's heart. Let us explain.
"I, Frankenstein" is an upcoming adaptation of Kevin Grevioux‘s Darkstorm Studios graphic novel, and it's a genre mashup of sorts, relocating Frankenstein to a modern-day setting and pitting him against two clans of supernatural creatures who are looking to take over the human world. Eckhart will play the monstrous lead, with Bill Nighy set to play a villainous demon prince and the awesomely named Socratis Otto as his henchman. Strahovski will give the dudes something to look at, playing a scientist but probably more importantly, Eckhart's love interest.
Anyway, it's a nice bit of casting we guess, but regardless, the promise of Eckhart stomping around as the famed monster is pretty exciting, and the prospect of him matching wits with what will surely be another scenery-chewing turn by Nighy is promising. Production kicks off in January with a February 22, 2013 date already set. Stuart Beattie of "Tomorrow When The War Began" fame directs. [Deadline]
