If you’ve been around these parts, you know we’re big fans of Clive Owen. Lately, that’s due to his terrific work across two seasons on Steven Soderbergh‘s "The Knick," but he’s always a highlight of whatever project he’s in, even if he sometimes gets slotted into movies that don’t quite measure up to his skills (for example, "The Confirmation"). However, a just announced gig for the actor could be interesting.
Deadline reports that Owen will star in "Gattaca" and "Good Kill" director Andrew Niccol‘s "Anon." The sci-fi-ish thriller seems to echo "Minority Report," taking place in a world where crime has been eliminated and following a detective who comes across a woman who "doesn’t exist." Okay, I’m intrigued.
Owen is currently working on Luc Besson‘s big blockbuster "Valerian," so presumably he’ll have to finish that project before jumping into "Anon." And while Niccol can be hit or miss ("In Time," "The Host"), this is the sort of material where he generally thrives, so this is one to keep an eye on.
