With a large amount of English-language films noticeably absent from this year’s Cannes Film Festival, it was a great year for more of the international fare to take center stage. One of those films is Pawel Pawlikowski’s “Cold War.” And now, only a few short months since its premiere at the festival, the film is coming to theaters and we have the new trailer.

The trailer for “Cold War” is very stylish, much like the film. There’s no dialogue, instead, the entire trailer is set to one of the songs sung by the lead character. It’s almost a music video, in fact, with images from the film shown throughout the performance, giving viewers an idea exactly what to expect from the moody, stylish, black & white romance.

“Cold War” was a hit at Cannes, where it earned Pawlikowski the award for Best Director. The filmmaker is no stranger to critical acclaim, as his last film “Ida,” won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2015. Perhaps, we could be seeing a second Oscar in the future for Pawlikowski? The film stars Joanna Kulig, Tomasz Kot, and Agata Kulesza.
“Cold War” will hit select theaters and On Demand on August 31.
