Colin Firth & Emily Blunt Reuniting In Steven Spielberg's Secret New Movie

Colin Firth and Emily Blunt are getting back together on the big screen. The two Brits have starred in two films previously, 2012’s little-seen “Arthur Newman” and the already underrated 2018 musical “Mary Poppins Returns.” Thanks to none other than Steven Spielberg, they are about to give it another go-around.

According to Deadline, Firth is negotiating to join Blunt in Spielberg’s new “untitled” tentpole set for May 15, 2026. The Amblin and Universal Pictures project was written by Spielberg’s “War of the World’s” screenwriter David Koepp and rumored to have a UFO connection. It is set to be Spielberg’s first summer release since the already-forgotten disappointment “The BFG” in 2016.

An Oscar winner in 2012 for “The King’s Speech,” Firth’s other major credits include the “Bridget Jones Diary” franchise, the “Mamma Mia!” franchise, the “Kingsman” franchise, “Shakespeare in Love,” “Mary Poppins Returns,” “Love Actually,” “Empire of Light,” and “1917.” Last year he earned an Emmy nomination for his role in the limited series “The Staircase.” He’ll be seen next in another limited series, “Lockerbie,” which will stream on Peacock, and has a supporting role in the Prime Video series “Young Sherlock.”

The usually prolific Spielberg has not directed a feature since “The Fablemans.” His most recent films include the remake of “West Side Story,” “Ready Player One,” “The Post,” and “Bridge of Spies.” As a producer, Spielberg has received credits most recently on “Twisters” and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” He’s also involved in Gareth Edwards’ upcoming untitled “Jurassic World” film.

Blunt earned her first Academy Award nomination earlier this year for “Oppenheimer” and starred in the relative box office disappointment, “The Fall Guy.” She recently wrapped Benny Safdie’s “Smashing Machine” alongside another former co-star, Dwayne Johnson.
