Got a Tip?

Come On! ‘Arrested Development’ Will Have Just One Season On Netflix

nullNetflix giveth, and Netflix taketh away. While the long awaited return of "Arrested Development" arrives in just a couple of months, it looks like you might want to parcel out that binge watch you had planned. Because that season will be the only one you're getting.

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings told Wall Street Journal (via /Film) that the effort was a "one-off." Noting that it was “extremely difficult to get the cast together,” Hastings says that the entire production of "Arrested Development" is essentially "non-repeatable” given the logistics involved. But as Pat in "Silver Linings Playbook" taught us, there is a silver lining. And that comes in the promise of a possible movie. Jason Bateman recently confirmed the long standing plan that this fourth season is merely the gateway for the much talked about movie.

"[The series is] the first third of a three part story — the second two parts will be in the movie. So this is the first act, and the movie is act two and three," he said. "They're all just asking questions that the movie itself will answer." This is something creator Mitch Hurwitz has said as well, however, as of yet, there is no deal in place for a movie, and we'd wager there won't be until feedback from the fourth season arrives. But at least those new episodes we are getting, will give us a lot of rewatch value.

“14 episodes, all separate, with each character getting their own episode, but all the action happens simultaneously,” Bateman explained. “So you can stop my episode at the very moment that, say, Gob rides by on his Segway and then click into his episode and follow him."

So enjoy the return of the Bluths while you can, because it could be another long wait before we meet up with them again.
