'Corner Office' Trailer: Jon Hamm Stars In A Corporate Black Comedy On August 4

Workplace dramas are all the rage right now, thanks to films like “Blackberry” and shows likes “Severance,” “The Consultant,” “WeCrashed,” and “Industry.” But who paved the way for works like that? That’s right, Don Draper and “Mad Men,” a series that remains one of the highlights of 21st-century TV. So it’s comforting, in a way, to see Jon Hamm back in a cubicle for “Corner Office,” a new dark comedy hitting theaters and Digital/On Demand next month.

Fresh off a Tribeca Film Festival premiere last year, “Corner Office” adapts Jonas Karlsson‘s novel “The Room” for the big screen. Hamm stars as Orson, a desk jockey for The Authority who soon realizes the alienation he feels about his corporate existence may be a bit more deranged than he initially realized.

In this workplace comedy reminiscent of Office Space and “Severance,” misfit Orson (Jon Hamm) finds himself trapped in the absurdities of corporate life. As The Authority’s newest employee, Orson finds it difficult to connect with his enigmatic desk mate, Rakesh, as well as with the rest of his colleagues. His alienation deepens when he discovers a room he’s told doesn’t exist – a place that unleashes his true potential, leading to an ascent up the corporate ladder. Buoyed by his newfound confidence, Orson invites a receptionist into his sanctuary, sparking a climactic clash between the corporate world’s harsh realities and his own wild fantasies.

“Corner Office” also stars Sarah GadonDanny Pudi, and Christopher Heyerdahl.  Allison RileyShawn MacdonaldMark Dozlaw, and Bill Marchant also star.
