I’m not sure anybody cares as much about the reboot of “The Crow” than the producers involved who are trying to make it happen, but yet again, the project has surfaced. For a few years now, efforts have been made to get the property flying again. And not to go through the sordid history all over again, but the long and short of it is that Relativity Studios continuing legal and financial woes hobbled the film from ever getting off the ground. Well, now there’s a much more credible chance that the project will actually get made.
Sony Pictures has swooped in for the worldwide rights of the film that will now be called, “The Crow Reborn.” There’s no word yet on who will write the script, or even who will direct and star. But of course, the new adaptation will be more faithful to the graphic novel, yadda yadda yadda.
Corin Hardy and Jason Momoa were the last people linked to the project, but that was over a year ago, and both are much busier. Hardy is working on “The Conjuring” spinoff “The Nun,” while Momoa is currently filming “Aquaman.” Still, “The Crow Reborn” is probably being eyed as a franchise, and seems like the kind of thing Hardy and Momoa might still be interested in doing if their schedules allow.
So yes, this reboot is still a thing, because no intellectual property goes untouched in Hollywood these days, whether there’s an audience for it or not. [The Tracking Board]
