If you’re a film fan, you’re probably very familiar with the work of actor Danny Trejo. He’s the epitome of badass, even starring in a film literally titled “Bad Ass” (which spawned two sequels, no less). He’s probably most well known for roles in films like “Machete,” “Con Air,” “Heat,” and about a million films with Robert Rodriguez. Needless to say, if you want a tough guy actor that is going to scare the shit out of a character, Trejo is your guy. So, why the hell is his next major film “Dora the Explorer?”
According to the actor’s recent tweet, he’s signed on to lend his voice to the character of Boots the monkey, in the upcoming “Dora and the Lost City of Gold.” First, yes, there’s a live-action ‘Dora’ film on the way. And yes, apparently the monkey is going to have the gravelly, intimidating voice of Machete. Go figure.
After a bit of investigation, “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” follows the titular character as she enters high school and then bands together with a group of friends (including Boots the monkey, her BFF) to save her parents and discover the secrets of the Inca civilization. Frankly, that sounds terrible, but could be instantly amazing if we’re missing the part about Boots smoking cigars and carrying around large guns. But our guess is that’s not going to happen.
Another startling revelation from our brief ‘Dora’ investigation is that Benicio del Toro is somehow involved and will provide the voice of a fox named Swiper. What the hell is going on here?
We’ll be able to see just what is up with this film when the first trailer premieres tomorrow during the Kids’ Choice Awards. Maybe this is all some sort of prank?
The rumors are true, I finally can tell you I am a monkey…Boots!!! Don’t miss the @DoraMovie trailer this Saturday 3/23, debuting live during the @Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards! #DoraMovie pic.twitter.com/gr5rq0xRYp
