Last week, we were shocked to see that filmmaker David Cronenberg showed up in a teaser for a new episode of “Star Trek: Discovery,” showing that the director is expanding his acting resume even more in 2020. Well, it appears that he’s going to keep acting in front of the camera in 2021, as a cast member of the next season of “Slasher.”

According to Shudder, the next season of the streaming service’s “Slasher” series is expected to have David Cronenberg in the cast. Dubbed “Slasher: Flesh & Bone,” the eight-episode horror series will follow a wealthy family that gathers on a secluded island for a reunion. And obviously, since this is a series called “Slasher,” things don’t go so well. As mentioned, this marks one of several new Cronenberg acting gigs after ‘Discovery,’ “Disappearance at Clifton Hill,” and “Falling.”
It’s unclear, however, which role Cronenberg will play in the series. He will be joined in the cast by Paula Brancati, Jefferson Brown, Patrice Goodman, Sabrina Grdevich, Christopher Jacot, Rachael Crawford, Jeananne Goosen, Sydney Meyer, and Alex Ozerov. The new season will be directed by Adam MacDonald.
“‘Slasher’ is clever, bloody, scary and fun, and adding David Cronenberg to the mix will take this new installment of the series to the next level,” said Craig Engler, Shudder’s general manager. “We couldn’t be more excited to work with Aaron Martin and the team over at Shaftesbury to bring the ‘Slasher: Flesh and Blood’ to Shudder members.”

“Slasher: Flesh & Blood” will debut on Shudder sometime in 2021.

Slasher: Flesh & Blood follows a wealthy but dysfunctional family gathering for a reunion on a secluded island. Their old wounds and competitive rivalries flare up when the family realizes a masked killer is on the island, intent on cruelly picking them off one by one. As with the past installments of the series, Slasher: Flesh & Blood will combine elements of traditional murder mystery with the intense horror and bold kills that audiences have come to expect.
