Got a Tip?

Watch The Creepy Thought Gang Short Film ‘Ant Head’ From Director David Lynch

Halloween might have already come and gone, but leave it to David Lynch to still bring the creepiness well into November.

The acclaimed “Twin Peaks” filmmaker recently released a “lost” album from his mid-‘90s musical collaboration with Angelo Badalamenti called Thought Gang. In honor of the band’s album finally seeing the light of day, Lynch premiered a new short film, featuring Thought Gang music, called “Ant Head,” at this year’s Festival of Disruption And as we mentioned above, it’s creepy and fascinating.

The 13+ minute film is fairly simple, in a Lynchian sort of way. The filmmaker describes it best by saying, “It is a short video featuring my friends the ants along with cheese, etc. and 1 1/2 tracks from the Thought Gang album.” And yes, it’s exactly that, a video of ants crawling over cheese that resembles a human head. Those who find creepy-crawly things especially disgusting need not watch.

“Ant Head” features the songs “Frank 2000” and “Woodcutters From Fiery Ships” from the Thought Gang album. And while you may think that there really isn’t a “perfect” type of music to accompany a film like this, you’d be wrong. Somehow, someway, the music from Lynch and Badalamenti just works with the visuals seen in the short film. Not sure what that says about the musical stylings of Thought Gang, but would you expect anything less from David Lynch?

The “lost” Thought Gang album is out now.
