David O. Russell Reteaming With Jennifer Lawrence (Again) On 'The Ends Of The Earth'

David O. RussellIt looks like David O. Russell has found his new Mark Wahlberg, and nope, it's not Bradley Cooper. Directing her to an Academy award nomination in "Silver Linings Playbook," Russell has already gone ahead and cast Jennifer Lawrence in his soon to be filming Abscam project, and now they're planning another movie together.

First announced at the end of the last summer, "The Ends Of The Earth" is a romantic drama that Russell will now direct, but it already has some hot talent on board. Penned by "Agro" scribe Chris Terrio, the based-on-a-true story film will find Lawrence playing Lydie Marland, the adopted daughter of oil tycoon Ernest Marland, who cared for the child when his desitute brother was unable. After his sibling passed away, the 54 year-old Ernest annulled the adoption and married the 28 year-old Lydie. She was a well known socialite who also pushed her husband to raise worker wages and provide health care, and the film will center on the loss of his wealth and a scandalous affair. The pair stayed married as he embarked on a political career, but he passed away in 1941 and for the rest of her life, she mostly lived as a recluse.

The project is set up at The Weinstein Company (who also handled 'Playbook') and THR notes that it "could" be Russell's next after this Abscam movie. But usually Russell has a few options on his plate at any one time, so we'll see if this goes further, but let's hope it does, because he's already proven that paired with Lawrence, they make a formidable team.
