Got a Tip?

Diane Kruger & Anton Yelchin Are Working ‘5 To 7’

One of the benefits of living in Montreal (as this writer does), is being able to get a bit of European flavor, and around here the “cinq-a-sept” is sacred. The term (meaning five-to-seven) describes the after work hours in which co-workers, friends and colleagues share drinks and laughs before heading home. And as the setting for a romantic comedy, it’s a pretty good one.

Diane Kruger and Anton Yelchin will star in “5 To 7,” the feature debut from “Mad Men” co-producer and writer Victor Levin. Set in New York, the story follows an aspiring novelist (Yelchin) who has a cinq-a-sept affair with the beautiful wife of a French diplomat (Kruger). Cultures, world views, personal ethics and dietary preferences clash as their love deepens. Yes, it sounds a bit generic, but if done with enough flair it could be a pretty delightful little trifle, and we’re certainly fans of both leads who can do well with this sort of material.

Lensing will kick off in February. Full press release below.

Los Angeles, California (October 17, 2012) – Diane Kruger (INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, THE HOST, THE GREEN BLADE RISES, FAREWELL, MY QUEEN) and Anton Yelchin (FRIGHT NIGHT, STAR TREK, LIKE CRAZY) are attached to star in the romantic comedy 5 TO 7, written and to be directed by Victor Levin (AMC’s “Mad Men”), it was announced today by producers Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn of Mockingbird Pictures and The Solution Entertainment Group’s (“The Solution”) co-founders and partners, Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel.

Wilson and Nestel are on board as co-executive producers of the film with the company also handling international distribution rights. The Solution will introduce the project to buyers at the upcoming American Film Market.

Scheduled to start production in late February 2013, 5 TO 7 is set in New York, where an aspiring novelist (Yelchin) has a cinq-a-sept affair with the beautiful wife of a French diplomat (Kruger). Cultures, world views, personal ethics and dietary preferences clash as love deepens, with remarkable results in this romantic comedy.

“Vic Levin’s script has us in tears — we’re just not sure if it’s from laughing or crying. We’re excited about the grace and intelligence that he, Diane and Anton will bring to their interpretations of his beautiful story,” said Curtis and Lynn.

“This is just a great script with a wonderful cast attached and filmmakers involved who have a fantastic track record. It exactly matches our criteria of offering only the very best in independent filmmaking to our clients. The response to the project has been overwhelming,” said Wilson and Nestel.
