As seen in the trailer for “DÌDI,” the film tells the story of a 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy as he navigates the summer before he starts high school. You get to watch the young kid experience his first crush. You see him try to impress older kids. And yes, there’s plenty of disagreements with his mom. It’s a coming-of-age tale that is familiar but also incredibly sweet and unique, as it offers a new perspective.

The film stars Izaac Wang, Joan Chen, Shirley Chen, and Chang Li Hua. “DÌDI” is written and directed by Sean Wang.

We saw the film at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and in our review, we said, “‘DÌDI’ is the definition of a crowd pleaser. This is a movie that will fill your heart with joy, love, and nostalgia (even if you grew up before Paramore or the early days of Facebook).”

“DÌDI” is set to arrive in theaters on July 26. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

In 2008, during the last month of summer before high school begins, an impressionable 13-year-old Taiwanese American boy learns what his family can’t teach him: how to skate, how to flirt, and how to love your mom.
