Well we knew it was just a matter of time until she was doing a porn…..biopic. Lindsay Lohan, who was just dropped out of “The Other Side” by writer-director David Michael thanks to her not being “bankable,” will soon be playing Linda Lovelace in “Inferno” according to E!. Lohan will portray the porn star famous for her role in “Deep Throat,” one of the most notorious porn films ever made. “Inferno” will visit how Lovelace became involved in the industry and her ultimate departure from it when she became involved in the anti-pornography movement before her untimely death in 2002.
One might wonder if this is really the greatest career move for a this-close to washed up child star — who has become known more for her partying and inability to maintain a role in Hollywood– but “Inferno” with its look behind the scenes at what it feels to be used by the film (granted, porn) industry, might not be such a departure from what a Disney child star might have gone through. And it’s pretty clear that the actress, who seems to spend most of her time taking photos for her photographer friend’s upcoming coffee table books, could gain a great deal from a quality dramatic role.
But this is clearly a project of diminishing returns. Matthew Wilder has been looking to helm this one for awhile, with a slew of A-list stars like Anna Farris and Sam Rockwell attached for years, but clearly they’re trolling the D-list now. If there is fairy dust blown up Lohan’s ass or a huge golden horseshoe this film could be just the ticket for her to showcase her dramatic ability. Or, more likely, it will be the next in a line of failures that has saddled this young actresses’ career ever since she decided to become a sublebrity.
Remember the days when Lohan was great? Pardon us? Yes, “Mean Girls” is still a Playlist favorite and incredibly underrated (hello, a film written by and starring Tina Fey, with Rachel McAdams, Lizzy Caplan, Amanda Seyfried, Amy Poehler, Tim Meadows? If you’re hating here, you probably just don’t know). But it appears those Lohan days, like her spunky red hair and voluptuous curves are long gone behind her.
