We apologize for the brevity of this story, but really, there’s not much to go on right now.
Deadline reports that Disney has acquired a pitch by Ahmet Zappa (yes, Frank Zappa’s son) and Michael Wilson (“Ice Age,” “Shark Tale”) for “Monster Witness Relocation Program.” No details on the plot yet but we think the title is probably pretty self-explanatory. The project is developed with Jaden Smith in mind and we’re not surprised. With “The Karate Kid” becoming a crowd pleasing hit this summer, studios are going to want to see if they have a Will Smith 2.0 on the way.
This isn’t the only Zappa project in development as years ago, the rights to his children’s book “The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless” were picked up, but the project seems stuck for now.
