Got a Tip?

Do You Want To Go Back To The Island? Carlton Cuse Thinks The Return Of ‘Lost’ Is “Inevitable”

LostDo want to board Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 again? Do you care to unravel the mystery of the Dharma Initiative? Do you want to track the tortured, irritating Jack and Kate all over again? Well, "Lost" producer Carlton Cuse thinks it’s only a matter of time before the show is brought back to make you hate-watch it all over again.

Chatting with Digital Spy, the producer says that simple dollar signs will likely mean "Lost" will return in some shape or form. "Disney owns the franchise, it made them a lot of money, it’s hard to imagine it will just sit there idly forever," Cuse said. But don’t take that to mean he’ll be involved.

"Damon [Lindelof] and I told our story in that world and I assume someone will come along, hopefully having been inspired by our story, or our version of the story, and want to tell their own story," he continued. "It’s like the ‘Narnia‘ chronicles. There are seven books, they were all written by CS Lewis, but they all visit ‘Narnia’ at different times and different configurations and different ways. Someone is going to come up with a way to tell another ‘Lost’ story. I think it’s inevitable. I don’t know what it is or how it would work, but I can’t imagine something else won’t be done with the franchise."

It’s a prophecy that will undoubtedly leave many who stuck it out with the show until the lackluster finale feeling a bit emotional. That said, there is a rich world here that deserves a much more satisfying story, so maybe a reboot or another take on it isn’t the worst idea. But hey, how about a miniseries next time, so we have a clear ending in sight instead of stretching things out to the point where nothing can be resolved satisfactorily? [via Slashfilm]
