Got a Tip?

‘DogMan’ Trailer: Luc Besson’s Latest Starring Caleb Landry Jones Hits Theaters On March 29, Expands On April 5

Luc Besson is back in theaters with his first film since 2019’s “Anna.” And from the looks of its new trailer, “DogMan” is another ultra-stylish, semi-deranged action thriller from the French director. But how will it hold up against Besson’s best films like “The Fifth Element,” “Le Femme Nikita,” and “Taken“? Audiences find out when “DogMan” hits theaters next month.

Caleb Landry Jones stars in “DogMan” as Douglas, a New Jersey man who, after being arrested, recounts his life story to a psychologist: a tale filled with child abuse, Shakespare, cabaret, and the justice and salvation he finds through his relationship with dogs.

Along with Jones, “DogMan” also stars Jojo T. Gibbs, Christopher Denham, Clemens Schick, John Charles Aguilar, Grace Palma, and Iris Bry. Marisa Berenson, Alexander Settineri, Michael Garza, and Tom Leeb round out the main cast.

Besson writes and directs “DogMan,” as he typically does on his projects. Virginie Besson-Silla produces the film, while Erica Serra composes the movie’s music.

“DogMan” had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival last year to mixed reviews. The Playlist’s review states, “Without an understanding of the story it wants to tell, “Dogman” becomes painfully reliant on the freakishness of its protagonist, paying a disservice to the character by reducing Douglas to a mishmash of misfortunes.” That doesn’t sound promising, but then the lesser films in Besson’s filmography tend to be all over the place.

Want to make your own judgment about “DogMan”? The film hits select theaters on March 29 before a wider release beings on April 5. Watch a trailer for Besson’s latest below.
