Still without a release date, it seems Ryan Reynolds wants “Deadpool 2” to be the best it can be, and if the rumors are to be believed, he’s flexing all the creative muscle he has on the sequel to realize his vision. Last fall, “Deadpool” director Tim Miller exited the picture, with “John Wick” co-helmer stepping in to replace him. Now, as the script gets to the finish line, a fresh pen has been added to the mix of series staples Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
Collider reports that Drew Goddard has been added as a “consultant” on the writing team, and is working with Reese, Wernick, and Reynolds on the screenplay. Goddard’s geek bonafides — “The Martian,” “The Cabin In The Woods,” “Cloverfield” — check out, and Reynolds himself hit Twitter to assure fans that Reese and Wernick are still very much involved:
.@RhettReese and Paul Wernick are still very much writing the screenplay. They're the heartbeat of the whole operation. https://t.co/7XyZvUlUSi

For now, stay calm, nothing to see here, really. Let’s just hope they don’t overthink this thing to death.
Meanwhile, Collider also reveals that “X-Force” is moving along with Joe Carnahan working on the script. The involvement of the guy behind “Smokin’ Aces,” “The Grey,” and the upcoming “Bad Boys For Life” and “The Raid” certainly indicates that Fox is probably keen on keeping the R-rated flavor they’ve had success with so far with “Deadpool” (and probably with next month’s “Logan“). No director or release date set yet for that one, but let’s get “Deadpool 2” out of the way first, shall we?
