So much Khan drama, and it turns out Benicio Del Toro isn't in the damn thing, but J.J. Abrams continues to search for his villain for "Star Trek 2" (maybe it's like, Khan's cousin?!) and two names are rising up.
Variety reports that "Carlos" star Edgar Ramirez and Jordi Molla that guy from "Colombiana" (and a bunch of other movies you've seen from "Bad Boys 2" to "Che" to "Knight & Day") are in the mix to take over the part. Apparently, Ramirez is the frontrunner and will have the unenviable task of auditoning via Skype today or tomorrow. The bottom line is, Abrams needs to make a decision soon as his mega 3D sequel begins a six month shoot in January. For Ramirez, winning the part will continue his gradual post-"Carlos" ascent in Hollywood which kicks off with a part in "Wrath Of The Titans" opening next spring. For Molla it will be a career boost from being "that guy" to being a dude hounded at Comic-Con next year.
So far, the only new cast members are Alice Eve in an unspecified role, and Peter Weller who Slashfilm have dug up will be playing a C.E.O. of some kind. Probably an evil one. When was the last time you met a benevolent CEO in a big budget movie?
The Enterprise will land in theaters on Earth on May 17, 2013.
