‘Emergency Contact’: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II & Dwayne Johnson Teaming For Warner Bros. Action Thriller

Actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been making a huge splash over at Warner Bros. with roles in James Wan‘s “Aquaman” as Black Manta, playing Doctor Manhattan in HBO‘s “Watchmen” series, and nabbing a juicy part in Lana Wachowski‘s “Matrix.” He recently joined George Miller‘s “Mad Mad: Fury Road” prequel, “Furisoa.”

Abdul-Mateen II’s dance card is quickly filling up as Warner Bros. wants him for another project. Titled “Emergency Contact,” it’s an action film that takes place in the underground music scene of Austin, Texas (does this take place at SXSW?). The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, who added that the producing team would include Dwayne JohnsonBeau FlynnHiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia

“Emergency Contact” is based on a pitch from “The Mauritanian” screenwriters Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani

Other movies that Dwayne Johnson is involved with as a producer include his own vehicles “Black Adam,” “Red Notice,” “Jungle Cruise,” and “Hobbs & Shaw.”

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is expected to shoot the post-apocalypse prequel “Furiosa” in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, alongside co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy next year, with a studio release date of June 23, 2023. It will explore how Furiosa (Taylor-Joy) became the hardened female warrior we saw Oscar-winner Charlize Theron play in “Mad Max: Fury Road” opposite Tom Hardy‘s Max.

His next big feature film releases are MGM‘s “Candyman” soft-reboot directed by Nia DaCosta on August 27 and “Matrix 4” on December 22.

Johnson, meanwhile, is busy himself filming the DC Comics solo film “Black Adam” in Atlanta, Georgia, which will introduce fans and audiences alike to the Justice Society of America and his big Disney film, “Jungle Cruise,” co-starring with Emily Blunt hits Disney+ and theaters on July 30.
