Emily Blunt Gets The Umbrella Ready For Disney's 'Mary Poppins' Redo

Emily Blunt Mary PoppinsLast fall, word started going around that Emily Blunt, whose "Sicario" had just opened, was the frontrunner for the title role in Disney‘s "Mary Poppins" redo. There wasn’t much to it beyond that, but it turns out the chatter had some weight to it, as it looks like it’s all going to pan out.

Blunt is now in talks for the umbrella-wielding title role of "Mary Poppins."  She’ll be reteaming with her “Into The Woods” director Rob Marshall, and the movie has “Life Of Pi” writer David Magee taking on the script, with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman creating the tunes. Sounding like a sequel/reboot, this version is taking place twenty years after the original. So, either Mary Poppins doesn’t age, or we’re going to see how she fares in 1930s England this time around.

No word yet on when production starts or a release date, but I’m sure we’ll find out as fast as you can say, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. [THR]
