Eva Green To Play Artemisia In '300: Battle Of Artemisia'

nullWhile Eva Green's movie choices have always been interesting and eclectic, her otherworldly beauty seems to have made her a favorite for sword 'n sandal/fantasy pics. With "Kingdom of Heaven," "The Golden Compass," and short-lived TV series "Camelot" under her belt, she's adding another similar film to her resume.

THR reports that Green will take on the titular role in "300: Battle of Artemisia," making her the first official person cast in the film after Joel Edgerton turned down the lead role. This time around, the film will tell the story of Xerxes, who leads his troops into battle against the Greeks who are headed up by Themistokles. Green will portray a ruthless, gold-covered goddess who helps and persuades Xerxes to get his forces together for war.

We can't say we were ever that excited for this sequel, but with Green now on board, we're going to have to watch. Production is gearing up to kick off in the first part of 2012 with Noam Murro at the helm. Lots of big roles still to be cast, so we'll soon see who will be beguiled by Artemisia's beauty.
