Evangeline Lilly has always been an actor who says whatever she wants. Back during the worst parts of COVID, she was one of the first Hollywood figures to question the legitimacy of the illness and the precautions taken. She just marches to the beat of her own drum, for better or worse. And right now, that means acting is in her past.
As seen in a recent Instagram post, Evangeline Lilly has publicly expressed her desire to leave Hollywood behind for now and retire from acting. That’s the short version of what she posted. The longer version is much more spiritual.
“I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings,” wrote Lilly. “Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment. I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READY…and I AM HAPPY.”
Of course, we don’t know how long this might last for Lilly. She could still decide to do a couple of small roles here or there. There’s always that Marvel Cinematic Universe looming above her, which might bring her back for an ‘Avengers’ film or yet another ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp.’ But clearly, this is something she’s thought about and wants to stick with for now.
Other than her MCU appearances, she’s recently showed up in projects such as “South of Heaven” and “Crisis.”
