Even though Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut “Don Jon” (formerly known as “Don Jon’s Addiction“) still has a few weeks or so before it hits theaters (with a release date of September 27th), we’ve started to see the trickling of promotional materials from a “pretty damn charming” trailer to a clip featuring Tony Danza checking out Scarlett Johansson. The “porn addiction comedy” about a New Jersey guy whose porn-watching habits affect his day-to-day life has already received some rave reviews at Sundance and SXSW—our own critic-on-the-ground at Sundance described it as “a beguiling romantic comedy with a heart, soul and pulse that will pleasure you for a full 90 minutes with hardly breaking a sweat.”
Starring Gordon-Levitt as the eponymous Jon, the stellar supporting cast is rounded out by father Tony Danza, mother Glenne Headley, sister Brie Larson, and Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore as competing love interests. Be prepared for some “Jowzey” accents and stereotypes that give the ‘Real Housewives‘ and ‘Shore’ peeps a run for their money. Check out the tongue-in-cheek poster (with the winking tagline of “Everyone loves a happy ending”) and stills of Jon’s Jersey life below.
