Throught the years, the Sundance Film Festival and its more irreverant cousin, the Slamdance Film Festival have played host to no shortage of films about adolescents and high school. But we're willing to bet there are few as potentially eye-opening as "The Dirties." Set to premiere at Slamdance in a just a short while, we have the exclusive red band trailer for the film, and it's definitely worth a look.
Marking the feature directorial debut of Matt Johnson (the man behind the web series "Nirvana The Band The Show"), he also co-stars (with Owen Williams) in, and co-wrote (with Evan Morgan), the tale of two cinema-loving high school friends, who are tormented by bullies. They decide to make a movie about exacting revenge on their tormentors, but it turns out, one of the friends isn't joking about getting justice. And as you'll see below in the trailer, what starts with a comic scene that references both "Pulp Fiction" and "The Dark Knight Rises," soon goes in a very dark, disturbing direction.
The Slamdance Film Festival kicks off on January 18th, and the first screening for "The Dirties" will take place on Saturday, January 19th. Watch below.
