Exclusive: Mesmerizing Clip From 'Samsara' Plus Win Tickets For NYC Screenings This Weekend

nullIf you thought the summer season of big screen spectacle was over, guess again. While the major studios have all (mostly) unveiled their popcorn munching, effects driven blockbusters for the year, for those looking for something both to dazzle they eye and exercise the brain, the folks over at Oscilloscope Laboratories have one more must-see movie for cinephiles: Ron Fricke's "Samsara." And with the film set to start rolling out in limited release this weekend, we've got a couple of treats for you.

Shot in 70mm, Fricke continues with the meditative style that brought him acclaim with "Baraka" in his first feature in nearly two decades. This exclusive clip is a great taste of the breathtaking work on display in "Samsara" and why it demands to be seen on the big screen if it comes to a cinema anywhere near you. The title is a Sanskrit word that means “the ever turning wheel of life” and, filmed over five years in twenty-five countries on five continents, the movie takes the viewer to the varied worlds of sacred grounds, disaster zones, industrial complexes, and natural wonders. As you might guess, it's truly a wonder to behold.

For those in New York City wanting to check out the movie, you're in luck. We've got 2 pairs of tickets for screenings of "Samsara" on Friday, August 24th at 7:15 pm and Saturday, August 25th at 7:15 pm at the Landmark Sunshine. To win, email us with your name and tell us about the best movie you saw this summer. To find out when "Samsara" is playing near you, check out the rollout dates right here.
