Exclusive: Poster For Bertrand Tavernier's 'The Princess Of Montpensier'

While he’s far from a household name, smart cinephiles are already aware Bertrand Tavernier is simply speaking a legend, an influential director and film historian who started his career in the French New Wave and has evolved ever since, trying his hand in a variety of styles and films leading up his to latest, “The Princess of Montpensier.”

We’re happy to premiere the poster for the film that stars a strong lineup of notable French thesps including Melanie Thierry (“Largo Winch“), Gaspard Ulliel (“Hannibal Rising“), Gregoire Leprince-Ringuet (“Love Songs“) and Lambert Wilson (“Of Gods and Men“). The story follows a love triangle between Marie (Thierry), the titular princess and heiress to a great fortune who is married off by father to Philippe, the Prince of Montpensier (Leprince-Ringuet), in order to increase their standing and prestige. However, Marie’s heart still lies with her cousin Henri (Ulliel), a war hero and the love of her life. Also becoming tangled in the web is Francois, her friend and tutor who also develops feelings for her. Set against the backdrop of 1560s France, and the battles between Catholics and Protestants, the film is a grand period drama and romantic tale.

Sundance Selects will release the film into theaters on April 15th. Check out the full poster below.
