Exclusive: Poster For The Prize Winning Ballet Documentary ‘First Position’

nullWhile "Black Swan" might have had more than it's fair share of tough love, physicality and mental and emotional pressure, Nina Sayers might not have anything on the young dancers featured in the upcoming documentary "First Position."

Directed by Bess Kargman, the film chronicles the Youth America Grand Prix, the annual and pretigious ballet competition that draws contestants from all over the world. The prize? Elite scholarships and contracts that make the effort of years of practice and discipline all worth it, while giving the winners the opportunity to make dancing a career. But of course, nothing short of perfection is expected. The documentary follows six young dancers though the competition as they try balance a childhood with the rigors that the art requries.

The flim played the festival circuit last year while it picked up a handful of awards including the Jury Prize at SF Docfest, the Audience Award at Doc NYC, the Audience Award at the Portland International Film Festival and came in 2nd place for the People's Choice Award at TIFF. We're happy to unveil the poster for the film which you can see in full below. Watch the trailer and catch the film when it hits theaters on May 4th.null
