While punk rock for many is about rebellion, for the kids in Lukas Moodysson‘s “We Are The Best!” it’s an outlet. It’s an open door to friendship, an avenue to let their freak flag fly and a place outside of school where they can be safe, creative and be who they really are. But, that can get them into trouble.
With the heartwarming, hilarious film coming to theatres this week, we’ve got an exclusive clip to give you a nice preview of what’s coming with this one. The film follows Bobo and Hedvig, two young girls who decide to form a punk band together. The problem? They don’t know a thing about playing music. And so, they recruit Klara, a shy, religious and more importantly, guitar playing, girl from their school to join the group. And while Klara loves the being able to try something new and different, when Bobo and Hedvig give her an extreme haircut, they meet the wrath of her mother as you’ll see in his scene.
Smart, funny and authentic, “We Are The Best!” is terrific stuff. It opens in limited release this Friday, May 30th. Watch below.
