Got a Tip?

Exclusive: U.S. Trailer For Crime Thriller ‘Days Of Grace’; Soundtrack Includes Nick Cave, Scarlett Johansson, And More

Days Of GraceThe 2011 Cannes Film Festival was crushed with great films — "The Tree Of Life," "The Artist," "We Need To Talk About Kevin," "The Kid With A Bike," "Melancholia," "Drive" — so perhaps it’s easy to see why the epic, Mexican crime drama "Days Of Grace," which screened in the Midnight Movie lineup, didn’t quite get the spotlight it deserved. But Cinema Libre is finally bringing the film stateside, and today we have the exclusive U.S. trailer.

Marking the directorial debut by Everardo Gout, and starring Tenoch Huerta, Kristyan Ferrer, Dolores Heredia, Carlos Bardem, and Eileen Yañez, the Mexico City-set film spans twelve years — benchmarked by the 2002, 2006 and 2010 World Cup — and follows three very disparate lives that intersect as they are impacted by violence and abduction. Lupe, an idealistic cop, is tasked to investigate a crime ring and finds that justice has no value when a human life has a price. When Susana’s businessman husband Arturo is taken, she must go outside the law to fight for his release. And Iguana is conflicted as he dreams of becoming a boxer even as he is drawn into a lifestyle that finds him guarding kidnap Victim X and facing down a criminal mastermind.

And if that’s not enough, the soundtrack is pretty killer, featuring score work by Shigeru Umebayashi, Nick Cave and Warren Ellis along with Atticus Ross, Claudia Sarne & Leopold Ross. There’s also a great cover of "Summertime" performed by Scarlett Johansson and remixed and written by Massive Attack members Robert Del Naja and Tim Goldsworthy.

"Days Of Grace" will be released day-and-date in the U.S. in theaters and on HBO on May 1st, with DVD/Blu-ray and On Demand starting May 5th. Watch below.
