Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
All of the interesting filmmakers seem interested in “Star Wars” now that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have created a new universe of storytelling. The latest is Jon Watts (Sony’s Marvel-produced “Spider-Man” trilogy), paired with co-creator Christopher Ford going off on a wide-eyed coming-of-age children’s adventure in the vein of 1980s Spielberg, like “E.T.” and “The Goonies.” Starring Jude Law as a mysterious Force user, the series centers on a group of children lost in the galaxy on a self-navigating ship. Kerry Condon, Tunde Ambibe, and Nick Frost co-star, along with the four lead kids, played Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, and Robert Timothy Smith. A host of great filmmakers direct the series, including The Daniels, David Lowery, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and more.
Premiere Date: December 3 on Disney+.

Win Or Lose”
“Win or Lose,” Pixar Animation Studios’ first-ever original series, follows the intertwined stories of eight different characters as they each prepare for their big championship softball game. Premiere Date: December 6 on Disney+.

Creature Commandos”
Peacemaker” season two is coming eventually, but James Gunn’s first DC Studios TV plan involves an animated series that follows a group of military superhumans composed of a human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster, and a gorgon. The voice cast includes Frank Grillo, Maria Bakalova, Zoë Chao, Alan Tudyk, David Harbour, and Sean Gunn, and as it connects to live-action movies like “The Suicide Squad,” it will also include Viola Davis, Steve Agee, and other members of Task Force X.
Premiere Date: TBD December on Max.

TBD Fall

“Day Of The Jackal”
Produced and written by Ronan Bennett and directed by Brian Kirk, and based on the famous novel that spawned a pretty great 1970s political thriller, the series is reimagined into a contemporary political setting and centers on a ruthless British assassin, known only as the “Jackal,” and the intelligence officer tasked with capturing him. Eddie Redmayne, Lashana Lynch, Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Chukwudi Iwuji, and many more.
Premiere Date: TBD October on Peacock.

Rivals
Part of Jilly Cooper’s bestselling steamy and scandal-ridden “Rutshire Chronicles,” series “Rivals” is set in affluent 1980s England where two powerful men and neighbors—an Olympian turned politician (Alex Hassell) and a television exec (David Tennant)—have a longstanding rivalry that finally comes to a head. Aidan Turner, Katherine Parkinson, Lisa McGrillis, Emily Atack, and Danny Dyer co-star in an epically big ensemble.
Premiere Date: TBD. Hulu recently said, “Coming soon.”

The Franchise”
Teased by HBO earlier this year for 2024, if you’ve got superhero fatigue, this is for you. A behind-the-scenes look at the problems on a superhero film set, “The Franchise,” was created by legendary U.K. comedy writer Armando Iannucci (“Veep”) and filmmaker Sam Mendes (“Skyfall,” “1917”) and stars Billy Magnussen, Jessica Hynes, Himesh Patel, Aya Cash, Richard E. Grant, and Daniel Brühl.
Premiere Date: TBD, 2024 on MAX.

Black Doves
Teased by Netflix earlier this year for a 2024 release,  the series comes from acclaimed British screenwriter Joe Barton (“Cloverfield” sequel and a nixed “Batman” Gotham series). His British spy thriller TV series starring Keira Knightley centers on the spy, an affair that goes south in the dangerous London underworld, and another old espionage friend (Ben Whishaw) brought in to protect her. Sarah Lancashire, Andrew Koji, and a host of U.K. character actors co-star.
Premiere Date: TBD on Netflix.

Bad Sisters” Season Two
A fun blend of dark comedy and thriller, “Bad Sisters” centers on a group of sisters in Dublin who plot to kill the abusive, controlling husband (Claes Bang) of their timid sibling Grace (Anne-Marie Duff) and then have to deal with the fallout and investigation afterward. Created and developed by Sharon Horgan, Dave Finkel, and Brett Baer, Horgan stars alongside Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene, Eve Hewson, and Daryl McCormack.
Premiere Date: TBD on Apple TV+.

Marvel Animation
Marvel Animation has five shows scheduled to come out over the next 18 months, but there are no release dates for any of the titles yet. The best bet is “What If…?” season three, which already revealed a teaser scene and “coming soon” tag. Matthew Chauncey is the head writer,  Bryan Andrews directs, and yes, it’s the final season. New characters scheduled to appear include The Winter Soldier, Red Guardian, Captain America, Monica Rambeau, Agatha Harkness, Shang-Chi, White Vision, Wanda Maximoff, Sorcerer Supreme Wong, and more. Season two was released in December, so it could have a similar release frame. If that’s not the title, “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” would be the next guess, as a leak reportedly revealed a November premiere date. Waiting in the wings, probably not until 2025, are “Eyes Of Wakanda,” X-Men ’97 season two, and “Marvel Zombies.

Also Premiering In TBD Fall
Netflix’s “The Madness” starring Colman Domingo about a media pundit who  must fight for his innocence and his life after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the Poconos woods; though it seems like another highly anticipated Netflix series “Zero Day” starring Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Connie Britton and Robert De Niro, which doesn’t have a release date, will arrive in 2025.

All for now, happy watching.
