Festival season is upon us and that doesn’t just mean the prestige offerings of Venice, Telluride, Toronto, and New York. The 19th edition of Fantastic Fest is set to return to Austin a little over a month from now celebrating the best in new genre movies as well as celebrating restored classics and up-and-coming filmmakers. The festival released its main slate this week and it features world premieres of Alexandre Aja’s “Never Let Go” with Halle Berry, Natalie Erika James’s long-awaited “Apartment 7” with Julia Garner, Jim Hosking‘s “Ebony and Ivory” as well as the James Wan-produced and Ian McCulloch show run new series “Teacup.”

Fantastic Fest will feature 28 World Premieres, 23 International and North American Premieres, and 15 U.S. Premieres. James Ashcroft’s “The Rule of Jenny Pen,” with John Lithgow and the now somehow un-canceled Geoffrey Rush, will open the festival. Additional offerings include Sean Baker’s Cannes Palm d’Or winner “Anora,” a 4K restoration of “Big Top Pee Wee,” Bridget Savage Cole & Danielle Krudy‘s “House of Spoils” with Ariana DeBose, and the North American debut of Rasmus A. Sivertsen & Tommy Wirkola‘s adult animated musical “Spermageddon.”
